Michele Lyn is an Artist based in Denver, CO. Creativity has been with her since she was a child but her artistic world exploded when she discovered the magic of photography in high school.
At 18 she moved to San Francisco attending The San Francisco Art Institute. She studied there for 2 years and moved back home to Colorado completing her BFA in Photography at the University of Colorado Denver’s College of Arts and Media in 2008. She continued her studies back at The San Francisco Art Institute earning her MFA in Photography in 2010.
Identity plays a central role in all of Michele’s work. Her photography based art practice notates transformative moments throughout her life.
Michele’s early work was greatly informed by her experience as an identical twin and twin study subject. Medical and scientific methods had a daily impact on her life because her twin sister was diagnosed with juvenile Diabetes at 5 years old.
Motherhood and a series of traumatic events shifted Michele’s focus from the controlled nature of scientific study towards a reverence for Mother Nature’s wild and wonderful ways. She often seeks solitude in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and the desert lands near Moab Utah.
When Michele is not out exploring with her 10 year old daughter Roxi, she runs her small business, Michele Lyn Fine Arts, from her home studio. Her steady art practice and custom framing projects keep her hands happy and busy!
